The extended Genesis P-Orridge universe
I've seen that there's a thread on Throbbing Gristle from a while ago, but it makes sense to me to start a new one under this wider heading.
https://64.media.tumblr.com/047212b8...6bfda87724.jpg Fans or haters, few would deny that the phenomenon known as Genesis Breyer P-Orridge was at the center, on the periphery or at the background of some extraordinary and extraordinarily diverse artistic activity. Whether as a soloist, producer, collaborator, author or just former band member, Genesis is linked to a huge number of musicians, bands, trends, movements, cults, scandals, you name it. https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/pe...70-80.jpg.webp Which is why I think this headline makes sense: it allows you to group together a lot of disparate subjects, from Psychic TV and Coil to gender and the occult, whatever your attitude to each and every one of those may be. I'll start with what I think was one of TG's triumphs, the reunion show. Just tremendous. When you see members of the audience twitching involuntarily to the rhythm, you know it's the good sh*t. * |
An incredibly dated production, everything screams 1988-1991, but still pretty enjoyable.

Gen should get more cred as a maker of creepy trip hop

I was Gen's PA for a considerable time during the 00's. What do you want to know?

First of all, how was Gen as a person? Cause in interviews and documentaries they sometimes come across as very psychologically shrewd and even down to earth (yes!) while on other occasions as a complete megalomanic with a bad case of mythomania... |
I don't know much of the discography, yet "Cold Blue Torch" (Psychic TV) is one of my favorite remix albums!
such a classic! |
