I use to be a Music Snob, but over the last few years I've come to realize that I have no right to tell people what they listen to is crap. Music is a far to personal thing to judge, because we have no idea what a song or band means to a particular person. When someone listens to a song and hears the lyrics they get an emotional connection to it and they put there own thoughts, feelings and dreams into it, regardless on what the creator of the song was thinking about.

I'm going to use the example of Nickelback. I don't know a lot of people who say they like Nickelback, but 3 of there albums have gone platinum. They hit Number 1 on every mainstream chart and I'll admit the song " Leader of Men " is a good song. Now if everyone doesn't like them why are they so sucessful? Because they hit that emotional connection with the right people so much so that these people are actually BUYING there music. You can't deny success.

My point is this, next time you decide you want to go off on a Musical Crusade of Self Righteousness think about this. Would you like The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Residents, Mayhem, The Melvins or The Dears if everyone else did? I know I would.
