The 4th starting with solo piano as opposed to with orchestra starting first is so unique and marvelous.

I love all five piano concertos. Not one weaker movement, 15 out of 15

Teen jadis was an even bigger philistine than the adult version!

I guess it combines all the things I'm not particularly receptive to: string-heavy 19th century symphonic music, visual patterns, a vaguely family-friendly ambiance... There's something wholesome and "worthy" about it. I'm proud to report that I've always been too much of a wrong'un for that kind of thing!

I only know Wendy Carlos from the Kubrick soundtracks, which are absolutely great.

It’s for sure more than just 19th music! I love it. But I understand your point.

Oh have you ever checked out the switched on Bach records?

It's not available on the usual platforms... I suppose this is why, among others, holding on to physical copies is a good idea. Still can get it on piratebay though.

Wendy Carlos's music is largely not available on streaming or download platforms because she owns her catalog and has not authorized its digital release. Her albums, particularly her earlier works like Switched-On Bach, can still be found on CD and LP in some stores. While she remains an elusive figure, there are occasional news updates and remasters available via her official website.
