Default Choosing A Cello Instructor

Looking for some advice on selecting a cello teacher to take private lessons with... is it possible to select a cello teacher that is too advanced for you?

Is is possible to select a teacher that is too advanced for you? Yes and no.

Some people that play at a high level are bad teachers. Another skilled musician could still learn from them even if they're crap at teaching because the pupil has enough experience to figure things out on their own and just need a new perspective on their playing.

But if the teacher is good, then I say no. If the student tries, and the teacher can't help them, that's the teacher's fault.

Make sure your potential teacher is well acquainted with J.S. Bach. Also find someone whom you have a good rapport with. You don't want to shell out beaucoup bucks to someone who acts like a stuffy obnoxious jerk every time you make a mistake.
