THE GOLDEN STRING 11-17-2005 12:21 PM

2001 Brushfire Fairytales Universal 7/10
2003 On and On Universal 9/10 :)
2003 Thicker Than Water: Original Soundtrack Brushfire 4/10
2005 In Between Dreams Brushfire 8/10(HE HAS A SONG ON THIS ALBUM THAT WAS ON HANDSOME BOY MODLING SCHOOL)ITS GREAT I THINK ITS CALLED BREAK DOWN

Merkaba 11-17-2005 01:34 PM

In Between Dreams is pretty good, good chill music.

Scarlett O'Hara 11-17-2005 08:46 PM

Brushfire Fairytales is awesome! I also love On And On. ****, buy them all.

antman188 11-17-2005 10:08 PM

On and On is one of my favorite albums! Yeah, it's great chill music. Great lyricist, IMO.

EDGE 12-03-2005 04:30 PM

I own all of Jack Johnson's albums, unless there is one that I'm not aware of. But he's amazing. Just.. amazing.

cilly_vanilly 12-29-2005 05:30 AM

id rate them..
1- on and on
2- in between dreams
3- brush fire fairytales- although that has 2 of jacks best songs, flake n bubble toes....soooo good!

Sneer 12-29-2005 06:14 AM

none. his music gnaws at my cerebrum.

cilly_vanilly 12-29-2005 06:19 AM

how has he jumped on it? he hasnt done it to be like anyone else, hes done it because its what he enjoys and wants to share hes music with others. hes been a singer songwritter for ages, even before it became like big n every1 started doin it, so really he's 1 of the drivers seeing his inspired so many younger writers insteada jumping on just cos every1 else is.

Sneer 12-29-2005 06:24 AM

^see i deleted it because in hindsight i dont think he can be classed as bandwagon-happy. still dont like his music though.

cilly_vanilly 12-29-2005 06:26 AM

yeh point taken. u dont have 2 like it thats chilled... i was just bit taken back with the bandwagon thing!!! lol s'all good.

Sneer 12-29-2005 06:33 AM

though to be fair the reason he's suddenly attaining media attention is due to the recent trend of singer-songwriter's.

cilly_vanilly 12-29-2005 06:36 AM

yeh i agree that since he released inbetween dreams this year and...not turned mainstream, but got alot more publicity then usual, it does come across that hes just become a writter over night and is copying every1 else, but hes been doing it his whole life pretty much, so it is a passion, not just a label to make himself look more superior n better to all the other musicians out there

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 12-29-2005 11:38 AM

ya know...i say go with vanilla and splurge and buy all of them. there are good and not so good things about every album but overall you cant really be disappointed.

although i will admit, i heard a song of his on the radio the other day, i think it might have been a cover of something, and it didnt sound as real as the rest of his stuff.

GoodbyeBlueSky 12-29-2005 12:47 PM

Jack Johnson is good, but I download all my music, so I wouldnt kno what album to get haha

cilly_vanilly 06-09-2006 07:46 AM

was the cover of "we are going to be friends" by the white stripes? thats a top song when the white stripes do it...it threw me out a bit wen i heard jack do it but end of the day...its a good song n jacks a good musician so why not

sleepy jack 06-09-2006 01:57 PM

I can't stand him. =)

Piss Me Off 06-10-2006 01:32 AM

I'm blaming all of my depression and angst issues on Jack Johnson. He makes me miserable.

liveforever 06-11-2006 09:46 AM

hes one of the best acoustic players out there. though if you like jack johnson you'll love david gray!...even maybe damien rice...

jack johnson is just another "beige" artist.

Imonlydancing 06-11-2006 10:03 AM

Beige :)
I think i like one song?

Laces Out Dan! 06-11-2006 11:50 AM

Yeah Jack Johnson is pretty cool...Taylor is probably my favourite song

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-12-2006 12:26 AM

Jack Johnsonn never disappoints me. My mom is obsessed with him, and luckly there isn't one song by him that I don't like.

The Ten Thousandth Fist 06-12-2006 03:53 AM

Friend of mine has... one or two of his albums and I've listened to parts of them. They're not bad when you just want to relax with some music. I'd buy one, just to see if you like his music, then if you like it enough, buy the others.

Just like any other band/musician. :D

Alo 06-12-2006 06:23 AM

Ehm, I'm sick of him, had a few albums, and over-listened them. xD

bungalow 06-12-2006 10:19 AM

This guy is the most annoying wanker ever.
Even his name is aggravating.

Mr Sensitive 06-12-2006 03:48 PM

His music is incredibly dull.

I agree, it's just as bad as John Jackson.

jr. 06-12-2006 03:56 PM

I have In Between Dreams and Brushfire Tales.

Bubbly Toes is easily my favorite track.

stakeraiser 06-12-2006 10:38 PM

this is one guy I'm totally indifferent too, if I heard him on the radio, I just kind of shrug, but I don't reach to turn him off either

TheBig3 06-12-2006 11:33 PM

I love Jack Johnson jsut because he inspires so much hostility in snarky elitist music snobs and he just does his own thing, despite his bad reviews and ridicule.

I don't think his music is bad, he's never done anything he hasn't wanted to do, but when I watch people make outlandish accusations becuase he's widely accepted, that makes me fuzzy inside.

jr. 06-13-2006 07:32 AM

Excellent post, Big3

I also agree with the poster above you. I have two of his cds. They were given to me, though. I don't know if I'd have bought them myself. I don't dislike JJ, but I don't rave over him, either.

His music isn't the type of sound that inspires "f*ck yea!!! That's awesome!!!" It's a lot more mellow, laid back approach.

I totally dig all of JJ but On and On is my favorite..and if you like Jack you'll like Keller Williams..

And is JJ really considered Emo?

Laces Out Dan! 12-22-2006 02:27 PM

hahahaha no

NaNaNer 12-22-2006 02:32 PM

Okay good..cause someone had mentioned that in the thread and I was a little concerned.

littleknowitall 12-26-2006 09:43 AM

I wanted to see what all the fuss was about so i downloaded some and am currently listening to 'shes only happy in the sun' ......meh, i don't like it, he's got nothing on Ben Harper.

NaNaNer 12-26-2006 09:45 AM

Ben's good..Jack sounds different to me..I think if you are going to give Jack a try..do Taylor on the On and On CD.

NaNaNer 12-26-2006 09:49 AM
