It depends on what part of Canada you're in. In Quebec, it'll mostly be French. In Ontario, it'll mostly be English Canadian (whatever that is). People from out east in Newfoundland have their own accent a bit too. I honestly think the Canadian accent is kind of hard to define, but it's predominantly based on English. Honestly, how can you say otherwise? Out of 33 million, only 9 million speak French (and who's to say if they speak English too?). The French signed off almost all of their colonies to the British. Canada is not predominantly French. Only one province is predominantly French, and they wanted to separate from the rest of Canada. |
Actually, thinking about it, I don't see how our accent is exactly relevant. The fact that out of 33 million people only 9 million speak French should tell you a lot.

You guys are turds. Look Canada's main accent is French. End of story.

What honestly makes you think you know more then people who are actually part of whatever it is you're speaking of? How would you know Canada better then someone who lives there? How would you know cars better then a 15 year veteran mechanic? We as people don't know everything, and that's ok. |
OK, how can you dispute these two facts....
1) Out of 33 million, only 9 million speak French. 2) France ceded almost all of it's colonies to the British. Since you're such a fan of wikipedia too.... Quote:
How can a language which only dominates 23% of people be the dominant language? Only 13% of the people here only speak French. |
I'm from Nove Scotia.

1.) Who cares out of 33 million 9 million speak french the other 24 million have a french accent or are bi lingual.
2.) Just because a contry loses its land dosent mean the land loses it's culture. |
