That's a great album, when smart people can disagree about the best songs on it. Also, my favorite Dylan album is Bringing it All Back Home for sure. |

My favourite used to be Desire, but I'm not so sure anymore. It's between that, Blood On the Tracks, Nashville Skyline, Street Legal and Time Out Of Mind for me now.

But I do enjoy "Bringing it all back Home" and I listen to it often. It's always been hard to determine the greatest album to come out of that era. "Highway 61 Revisited" is such a great album too. |

Here's Bob covering one of my favorite tunes, Fred Neil's "Didn't We Shake, Sugaree (I've Got A Secret)"

So I just saw him day before yesterday, and thought he was pretty amazing. Sure his voice is pretty awful now but still, it's Dylan. He played alot of songs with different arrangements which was interesting to say the least. Also whoever, organized the location needs to be dick slapped by a rhino. An outdoor show in the middle of summer in south Texas, who the fuck thought that would be a good idea. I've never seen so many sweaty old people before. And yeh I was pretty much the youngest person there.
Anyway setlist: Watching The River Flow Don't Think Twice, It's All Right Til I Fell In Love With You Spirit On The Water Rollin' And Tumblin' Workingman's Blues #2 Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum Ballad Of A Thin Man Highway 61 Revisited Nettie Moore Thunder On The Mountain Like A Rolling Stone Jolene All Along The Watchtower The highlight for me was Don't Think Twice It's alright, I really wasn't expecting him to play it. |
So apparently he's releasing a Christmas album. I think it's cool he's still making music that he wants to make, but the idea sounds pretty corny.
Bob Dylan to release Christmas album |
re: christmas album
I was sorta horrified at first, but the idea is growing on me My dad says that used to be a joke, way back when: "Didja hear the new Bob Dylan christmas record? Ha ha ha ha ha..." |
haha
I was listening to "Oh Mercy" at work today. It's been a favorite of mine for some years now, but I rarely hear any discussion about the album on forums or anywhere else. Any thoughts on "Oh Mercy"? Personally, I like all the albums that Dylan (or Jack Frost if you so prefer) did with Danny Lanois. I feel like they've got a great set of working dynamics. Lanois was really able to hit on Dylan's strengths at the time instead of trying to force Dylan into a corner or relying on old tricks. It's a very cerebral album in that way, I think, and a decent precursor to later Dylan/Lanois collaborations like "Time Out of Mind". |
