Bob Dylan

Keeping in tune with my folk threads I figured I would bring up the legendary Bob Dylan. Im not a huge fan of his later stuff after the 70's baisically but his early days are awsome. I guess I cant really think of anything else to say except hes awsome. Im reading chronicles right now and it gives some pretty cool insight as to what he was doing and talks alot about his musical style/theory(pentatonics) alot which is really cool. So whats everyone think. My favorite songs are a Hard Rains gonna Fall, Its alright ma, lepord skin pillbox hat, maggies farm, and the times they are a changing.

blackTshirt 02-13-2005 02:36 AM

yeah...he's great
i like "i want you" "blowing in the wind" "like a rolling stone" "positively 4th street" "tangled up in blue" ..etc..

silvermoon 02-13-2005 04:27 PM

He is good very good just not a popular musician for todays kids but he is talented and if you ask most famous rockers today and of say the 80's and 90's all have at least heard of him or were influenced by him osr own some of his music. His sons music is good as well.

Sneer 02-17-2005 09:30 AM

dylan is god. like a rolling stone is an absolute classic

The only man alive in music today that deserves the title "living legend"

TheBig3 05-29-2005 05:01 PM

I don't think the only man, but he does deserve the title, and his music is great. Im a fan of Tangled up in blue, It's alright ma, and hw61r, and of couse countless other songs, im just throwing up ideas.

adidasss 05-29-2005 05:34 PM

As much as I love RATM, The Specials did it much better.

All_Nite_Dinah 05-29-2005 07:23 PM

Not to get to far off topic, but what's your take on SACD?

TheBig3 06-04-2005 08:11 AM

I don't know if you asked all of that, but I've never heard a SACD because im pretty sure they sound no diffrent, they were just construced to fight piracy and then given some label like (we sound better) so people would buy it.

Not that anyone cared to pirate it, but i put all my music on my comp, and the VR cd was over protected that I didn't feel like punching in the code to have it up loaded.

Exactly , people keep on saying about the improved sound quality but I don`t see it myself. The only albums i`ve seen reissued on SACD`s are old Dylan & Rolling Stones albums & I don`t really see how you can make much improvement in sound on an album that was recorded around 40 years ago.

Amazing man, I must say.

Josephine 06-04-2005 11:03 AM

I love you, Bobby!!!

A genius in expressing political statements, awesome lyrics...

My most favourite song is "Hurricane".

burden123 06-05-2005 09:50 AM

bob dylan is in my oppinion the best song writer ever. i went to see him a couple of months ago at the barrowlands in glasgow and it was awesome proving even at his age he can still do it.

Static-Fear-Shot 06-05-2005 06:00 PM

Bob Dylan can't sing, he would have to be one of the crapiest musicians of all time .. the only thing remotely good about his music are the lyrics, as they entail a meaning .... like hurricane. Apart from that l really don't know what all the fuss is about. Everyones always like "Bob dylan is god .. he's so great we love him" ..these are the kind of people who really need to get out more! Or Die. imo!

TheBig3 06-05-2005 06:40 PM

Someday when you're not a teenager anymore you'll look back on this time in your life and wish someone told you to stfu. I know it happened to me. At a young age you can't contemplate music being good that doesn't make you want to break things, or have some ass kicking riff that you think pulls the ladies. it comes with time and maturity.

And if you're gunna pull the "im older than 19 card" then your just a moron who never grew past cars, chicks and beer. And if you are actually over 19, please take some time and look at what your doing, and ask yourself why, becuase I know alot of these people, and let me tell you in all sincerity, no one likes them.

Before people jump on the "who do you think you are bandwagon", let me say this, its too GD hot to give a crap about offending people, just roll with it.

Wise, very wise. I owe all my respect to you... (I understand, although I'm 18 still, but I feel already that I'm getting older...)

what a moronic statement. What, you're telling me no teenagers worship "imagine" by john lennon? And you're telling me there are no 20+ that dont listen to thrash metal or "ass kicking riffs" like GnR and ignore "classics" like sinatra? You are generalising what one person has said to a whole age group. (ledzep)Stu likes psychedelic groups and hardly "break thing" inducing bands like the beatles. And i for one like dance music and the occasional classical as well as bands like my chemical romance, green day, motley crue, aerosmith, good charlotte, Keane etc (basically what is generally considered "****" on this forum lol). So i would thank you not to use such statements in the future unless they are in some way factful and less facist. "Now ya see there are 3 kinds of people chuck".... (and so on and so forth).
