'blowing in the wind' is probably my least favourite. just throwing that out there.
'don't think twice it's alright', however is one of my favourite songs of all time, I played it in India on my ukuele, the hippys in Goa loved it!!

Have a listen to Jon Allen, he's pretty recent but a lot of critics have compared him to Dylan and I can't say I altogether disagree, awesome voice too.

Oh Mercy has Man In The Long Black Coat, right? And Everything's Broken, and Shooting Star. Great songs. Everything's Broken feels sort of unfinished, maybe a by-product of Dylan and Lanois' apparent lack of empathy at the time, but they must have worked it out since they got back together later on.

Yeah,
you got the right album. I thought the same thing about "Everything is Broken"...but I often wonder if maybe that was the point. Form mimicking content, or something along those lines. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. ha

But Kenny Wayne Shepard did a cool cover of the song a while back. Obviously, very bluesy and straightfoward, but a fun cover none the less.

I don't think you're reading too much into it, tho Dylan's relationship with serendipity is such that he may not have thought about it, it just happened

Some of the early Dylan stuff was amazing - Like a Rolling Stone, All Along the Watchtower. I wish there was someone like him still out there.

I wish that too. No one comes close that I know of though.

The first Dylan song I heard was: Hurricane from Desire, I must say it was astounding!

You guys are annoying. All you know about him is his really popular stuff. Read a fugging book.

I found a guy on lastfm who's selling two tickets to a Bob Dylan show in October but I can't find anyone to go with me.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. Have you read "Dylan's Vision of Sin" by Christopher Ricks?

Ricks is kind of known for writing about the works of poets like T.S. Eliot, and he's really great at pulling back the layers and getting down to some pretty novel ideas. I think his take on Dylan's work is the freshest in years, pherhaps even one of the freshest yet, and he draws the connections between Dylan's work and the work of others, touching on that serendipity within his work. You should really check him out.
