I have a question is garden a british work for yard, er, the damn the land around your house. I mean I know a garden can literally have plants and shrubs and all that good stuff in it but I've heard it where yard would've sounded better so I'm just wondering.

A garden is the British word for yard.
Yard in England is a flagged area behind terraced houses, usually containing an outside toilet.
