I'm not going to mention groups/singers that have been mentioned before. These are oldies:
Aterciopelados - Colombian rock (?) band. It's got a female vocalist, their first few albums are rockish, and after it becomes more of an experimental type of rock.
Soda Stereo - Argentinian rock band. I highly recommend 'Comfort y Música Para Volar'.
Caifanes/Jaguares - Mexican rock (?) band.
Jarabe de Palo - Spanish band. I really like this group. I recommed 'La Flaca' and the album 'Bonito'.
La Mosca - Sort of Ska.
La Pestilencia - A Colombian Metal Band. Quite famous in Colombia, they're a legend.
Grupo Niche - A colombian Salsa band. They're also pretty big in the salsa scene.
Cabas - Um, I don't know how to describe this guy. A bit of everything, mainly fusion cumbia/Colombian folk. The music is quite sensual.

Some names for me to check out. Thanks for the list.

and here I was thinking this would be about flamenco. its really too bad, because flamenco is at least a million times better than Shakira, or whatever else has been mentioned in this thread that is supposedly "Spanish music." Do yourself a favor, dudes, check out Paco Pena, the guy is possibly one of the better guitarists in the world, and plays some mindblowingly awesome music.

I feel that some people in here are making the mistake of thinking that just because a band is from Spain or Mexico, that they make "Spanish" music. I know plenty of bands from South America and Mexico who play hardcore...its not "Spanish hardcore" or whatever, its just hardcore music in a different language.

There are some good bands and singers but I stopped listening to spanish music around 4 years ago... Music like Thalia, Paulina Rubio, Calle 13 and a bunch more is just crap... The last albums I actually enjoyed were from Arjona, Juanes and Sin Bandera... Al least their lyrics are smart and make sense .

Big Spanish Lover

I've grown up around alot of Spanish music which is great for me because I am proud of my culture and the music I have been exposed to..

There are soo many artists:
Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, Tito Puente, La India, and soo much more.

Celia Cruz has always been an idol to many hispanic and non hispanic people. She is well known for always saying AZUCAR, as a matter of fact, my cousin and I started a Salsa Dance Group and we named it AZUCAR!! We dedicated our group to her :)
