There are some amazing JPop and JRock songs but I think my favorite was the 90's garage band scene that came out of Osaka - such insane energy and enthusiasm. Bands like Shonen Knife, Supersnazz and all the Benten/Sister bands - Flamenco A-Go Go, 5678's, Petty Booka, etc. Those bands saved the 90's for me. Audrey at Benten was one of the first retailers to start selling music over the internet and she is still going strong too.

Japanese Girl garage bands are BEST!

My favorite J-pop group has got to be Perfume. It's awesome how they can still be making music since 2002 and have not put the main focus on sexuality. It's hard to find a group like that nowadays... C: (unlike AKB48, cough cough..)

I saw them at Night & Day Cafe in Manchester last night and they were mind-blowingly awesome....

I also bought 2 excellent live albums after the gig (and wish I'd bought a few more).
