Tim Mcgraw = who cares.

Willie and Waylon can play circles around him.

You are going to have to explain to me why you keep posting that icon and what it means. Sorry I am of the old school that likes my communication in English.

Giant Sand.
Golden Smog.
Handsome Family.
Jim White.
John Doe.
Lucinda Williams.
Mary Gauthier.
Neko Case.
O'Death.
Texas Tea.

to name just a few.

jawdropper--just surprised by the love for country and especially the video...but to each his/her own, you know....
Though, come to think of it, I admit I have Dixie Chicks latest CD and a couple of Dollie Parsons' (more a cult hero to me than musician), I think Lucinda Williams is cool, and I worship Willie Nelson. I guess I'm a contradiction....

Thanks man. I've only listened to two artists on there(16 Horsepower and Neko Case), so I'll definatley check out a few more.

I love 16 Horsepower. Fantastic band.

4ZZZ 02-24-2009 03:37 PM

16 Horsepower are very good indeed.

Those artists I named are but a few that I have explored. They are lumped into the the Americana genre.

To name but a couple that I like.

I am an unabashed fan of Jim White. He has 4 albums. His debut Wrong Eyed Jesus is IMO essential. The other three have exceptionally good high points. Why a singer songwriter of his ability is ignored I can only guess at.

Giant Sand. A weird off kilter mix of lots of rock and folk tinged country. Love them.

Willard Grant Conspiracy. Some highs on each album that to me are wonderful songs and stories.

If any of you are interested I will put together a mix tape of a few highlights
and put it on the main board. I am not going to bother unless there is interest though.
