The Band was an excellent country-rock group. As well as The Flying Burrito Brothers, The Byrds, and of course,The Eagles.

Country rock---that encompasses so much. haha

Like Swordwander said, The Band is definitely one of the all time greatest country rock groups. Even when they were the Hawks and when they were with Dylan. Check that stuff out. CCR definitely. Any of the old CSNY, Buffalo Springfield, or Neil Young albums. They may not be strictly tied to the country rock genre, but the roots are definitely present. The Stones for sure. Allman Brothers.

Some of the more modern country rock groups that I like: Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt. Wilco, in my opinion, is one of the greatest bands out there, even their post-country stuff. Definitely check out the Old 97s. Great Texas shuffle rock.

Drive by Truckers... seriously the only band that has done good country rock in the last 10 years.

I disagree with that whole-heartedly, man. Drive by Truckers are definitely one of my least favorites of the genre. I say Wilco, Son Volt, and the Old 97's put the Truckers to shame, in almost every avenue.

Two Cow Garage, Lucero (which to me sound like TCG lite) and Drive By-Truckers. I was so pissed off yesterday when I realized I forgot to put Southern-Rock Opera on my country MP3 CD. That is quite possibly one of my favourite driving albums that's come out in the last ten years or so.

Well thats an opinion. But to say The Truckers aren't good is foolish. Southern Rock opera is about the best album of the modern day country rock/ alternative genre. Wilco is good too, but nowhere near Drive By Truckers. The others I'm not familiar with and I will do some digging.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I get the appeal, and I won't dispute that they're a good group. They're just at the bottom of my favorite country rock list.
