just heard 'little lion man' a couple weeks ago, im gonna youtube a few more of their songs, if i like it then i'll buy sigh no more as soon as i get some money. i have a feeling i'll be spending what i have left on my best friends bday present.

FakePlasticKid 10-03-2010 09:52 PM

I highly suggest checking out Winter Winds because its more on the other end of their work, doesn't sound like most of their stuff, then go to Roll Away Your Stone, then go for Sigh No More for the kicker

gives you a good look at how their work goes

emostreetguitar562268 10-04-2010 12:05 PM

^thanks bro! im lookin em up right now

FakePlasticKid 10-04-2010 09:20 PM

oh and make sure you watch the bookshop sessions because they did some amazing renditions of all their songs from sigh no more and it really showcases their talent

emby 10-13-2010 07:01 PM

I bought their album for 10 dollars amazing how cheap cds are of great bands.

FakePlasticKid 10-13-2010 07:42 PM

believe me, best 10 spot you ever spent

Jambal 10-16-2010 09:49 AM

Dust Bowl Dance, beautiful song.

infantrysgirl18 02-03-2011 03:57 PM

so a few days ago and i just heard these guys on youtube... i love them. i cant believe i hadnt heard of them sooner. they just started becoming mainstream on the radio over here and its a shame its taken so long. regardless i think they are great musicians in the true sense of the word.

sillysillymary 02-03-2011 09:22 PM

When I bought the Mumford and Sons album I kept it on repeat for 3 weeks straight. I am still so entranced by it. The more you listen, the better it gets. I have heard it called "Flogging Molly's acoustic album" but whomever said that stopped short of discovering this gem. I think Little Lionman sounds a little Flogging Molly... but the rest has its own two feet firmly on the ground. The swells, pauses, harmonies, the banjo... its a combination that inspires and awes.

The lyrics are some of the most fascinating I've heard in a while... complex, they want to be religious but they aren't, or are they? Deep moral and value issues... love and life. Examples:

"“If only I had an enemy bigger than my apathy I could have won”

“Plant your hope with good seeds. Don’t cover yourself with thistle and weeds”

“In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die.
Where you invest your love, you invest your life”

“It seems that all my bridges have been burnt,
But you say that’s exactly how this grace thing works”

“Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life”

Also... my fave tracks are 4,5,11. 1,2,3,6,7,9,10 are amazing, too. 8 is wonderful, but least memorable for me.

I get to see them at Coachella!!!

I agree with everything that was said in this thread so far (Not entirely original, but nice... they remind me a little bit of Once, can't believe more people aren't posting about it, etc...)

I really believe this album is magical and the more you listen, the more amazing it becomes.

infantrysgirl18 02-07-2011 11:14 AM

ohh you lucky duck. considering im broke at the moment ill just have to wait until i get a little extra moolah. it sounds like tons of fun though :D

The album is pretty awesome to just listen to over and over. Actually its quite relaxing. I now just put on their music anytime Im on the computer. Its great.

Geetarguy 02-07-2011 11:53 AM

Their whole album is gold. I love it. I have over 80 plays on every track on Itunes. I couldn't get enough of them.

Now that I'm done climaxing. They have led me to so much more music I would have never found. They led me to Blind Pilot, and Fleet Foxes. To angus and julia stone.... To so many!

I need to see them live ASAP.

sillysillymary 02-07-2011 04:41 PM

I haven't heard Blind Pilot... but I will check it out. I honestly kept the CD on repeat for weeks straight... no matter what I was doing, driving, jogging, working, cleaning, eating... all Mumford. All the time.

check out the song "One Red Thread". I love it.

sillysillymary 02-09-2011 05:02 PM

very nice!

Mr November 02-16-2011 04:16 PM

Mumford and Sons new album is good but it does have a life span with me. I can listen to it any time and enjoy it, but it's just not the same as when I was hearing the second or third time. Maybe it's just me, but I think that's a symptom of the lyrics.

infantrysgirl18 02-18-2011 07:17 PM

So seeing as I've been hearing them non stop on the radio here, Im wanting a new band to listen to but with the same musical quality as M&S...I still love M&S but I need to spice up my music life again. I'm open to suggestions...

Sneer 02-22-2011 01:16 PM

What with having to share a nationality with these guys, and seeing as this country will desperately latch on to anything homegrown that peeks its head above the parapet of mediocrity, I'm sick to the teeth of Sigh No More.

sillysillymary 02-24-2011 10:04 PM

Sorry for your pain, Stu. Still love Mumford.

They won the Best British Album award for Sigh No More at The Brits.

holly984 03-06-2011 09:40 AM

Just discovered Mumford recently w/ 'Little Lion Man'. Definitely loved that song. Also liking 'The Cave'. Need to listen to the album entirely, but liking what I'm hearing so far.

I totally understand this.. Mumford's lyrics seem to be too easy to understand without much interperetation, but this is also what I respect about him. he is not afraid to lay it all out there...

On the other hand I can see where this will (hopefully not) become redundant in the future!

MusicGeek83 03-30-2011 01:49 PM

just discovered this band a few weeks ago! Fricken amazing! that is all!

Key 03-31-2011 03:14 PM

This is definitely a band that I have been on and off with. But I have grown to love them more and more with each chance I have to listen. Their music is somewhat calming to listen to, depending on the song, like this one for instance:

I also love the fact that they've performed with Bob Dylan. What I would give to be on the same stage with Dylan.

wanderluster 05-01-2012 04:39 PM

Mumford & Sons favorite song...

If you're a fan, what's your favorite song? Mine is Liar even though it seems almost impossible to find on some music sites :banghead: Hold On. To What You Believe is a very, very close second

VanLeon 05-01-2012 04:59 PM

Feel the tide!!!! :)

Thank you, Jackhammer
Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I should have searched for an already existing Mumford & Sons thread, nevertheless thank you for directing me to one. And yes, their Sigh No More album is kick arse. They just have this coffee shop feel to their music that I adore.

Rice 05-16-2012 09:04 AM

Lovers eyes is amazing.

Rice 05-16-2012 09:05 AM

But, then again I love most of their songs.
