His church thinks electric guitars are the devil’s work. But Father Tabakis is on a mission to change that – with Paradise Metal, a religious dubstep album...The Orthodox church’s old equation of secular music with the devil certainly doesn’t trouble him. God “is tasteful”, he insists. “He likes nice things. He’s not gauche.” By creating something beautiful, even with instruments, Tabakis honours his faith.
The system he works within is Byzantine, not as aesthetic choice or cultural reference, but as logic. The scales, the intervals, the way a note moves toward or away from another: this is the operating system. What emerges is slow, heavy, meditative, drone that carries the mass of stone walls and sustained prayer. It is still Byzantine music.

Muhlis Berberoğlu - Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım (Türkiye)

In 2012, musician, venue owner and co-founder Joe Carey invited guitarists to join him at the pub and renowned music venue, The White Horse in Ballincollig, an open call,with no set agenda other than gathering and playing guitar. From a turnout of around 20, 11 musicians emerged, and they have been together ever since.
