Listening to these guys reminded me a little of Reckless Kelly. You should check these guys out if you've not before. They've got a similar kinda Stones-esque classic rock stomp to them - it's good stuff. |

I've been listening to country and western in all its various guises for quite a while now, but I've been drifting towards the more modern (well...early 2000s onwards) stuff, these are a few from some albums that are on pretty heavy rotation with me lately; Spoiler for more musicks:

Last recommendation here was three months ago? :yikes:
The tracks on this album of Flemish folk music, Musiques et Chantes Traditionnels Flamands, are pretty short, so I'm posting a couple of them. The group Haeghendoorn were formed in 1975, but until my Dutch improves, I can't tell you much else about them. ...... |
I can't stop jamming Brandy Carlile's new album. And this song is ****ing killer. |
Nice to see this thread up and running again!
This popped up in TH's "Love or Hate" thread, but I thought I'd also post it here. I guess you'd call it progessive folk. I love those Flemish tracks, Lisna--where'd you find them? And Big3, it's good to see you around again, although I'll really miss that avatar. Nice tune, especially liked the vocals. I'll be checking the album out soon. |
Yes, I'd love to see more action in this thread, but sadly a post from Big3 is a rarity these days. That Brandi Carlile track is excellent; good lyrics good voice and an interesting, rough-edged surprise at the end.
I also liked your recommendation, Pet_Sounds, though it took a couple of listens for its subtle virtues to come across; I hope the rest of the album is as interesting.... Quote:

A great band and a great song indeed :)

Andrew Lawson &MileWide
I was looking around for new independent country artists the other day and came across the FaceBook page Of Andrew Lawson &MileWide. They have an incredible sound to them. Definitely worth checking out. If I have posted this in the wrong section I apologize I am new to forums.

First came across Juana Molina four years ago, when one-time MB member argento posted this clip, but on account of it being so good I thought I'd post it again:-
