i'm starting to really dig Death in June and Current 93 (probably going to move onto Sol Invictus soon as well) but i'm looking for some other neo-folk records to check out. i can also get down with some avant-folk if you wanna throw some of that my way too.

Well there's Rome obviously, with a slew of great and important albums. Boyd Rice (NON) and Douglas Pearce (Di6) have a softer seeming project I like called Scorpion Wind. Zamia Lehmanni: Songs of Byzantine Flowers by SPK is some kind of (amazing) neoclassical/industrial ambient medieval ritual work that needs to be heard by all. You should love Helfahrt by Sonne Hagal which is black metal combined with folksy romanticism and music. Then there's other great stuff like Endura and Nature and Organization
Listen to Within the Realm of a Dying Sun by Dead Can Dance mf |
Is that a different SPK from the industrial guys?
|
No

Damn. Who knew that artists were capable of doing two things?
|
They've had at least 3 different major periods of different sound
|
some cool 60s saudi songs

This one's for Lisna!
https://vimeo.com/178964778 I saw this Canadian "loud folk rock" singer-songwriter live a couple weeks back and was impressed. She has an incredible stage presence—hopefully she'll receive wider recognition. |
