I read today that Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers won Entertainer of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards last month. Steve Martin gets bluegrass award

I'd heard one of their songs before, but I didn't fully realize that Steve Martin is a "real" musician with a "real" band that is well-known for their music and not just for comedy.

So I was curious to hear more of their music. The song "Jubilation Day" amused me, especially the lines that go: "In my dreams you wear a red cape and pitchfork."

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers - "Jubilation Day"
They really do play very well and the lyrics are cute. Cruel...but also cute.

Another example of his humor and his musicianship intersecting:

Yes, that's a funny song! That was the only one I knew by Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers before yesterday.

I didn't realize that atheists all sit around on Sunday mornings watching football in their underpants!
