Default Thai music

I think Thai music has produced more good songs over the last decade than either South Korea or Japan, about time more people considered it 'hip' to hear music from there.

i doubt it. Japan and South Korea has one of the most beautiful, upbeat songs I know. I don't recognize a single song coming from Thailand, though.

I've heard alot of Japanese and South Korean music as well. If you don't hear music how can you judge it? I really prefer more older Japanese songs as well from the 70s and 80s than the modern stuff. And South Korean music of the 80s I'd say is at least as good as music there in the last decade, it's just become more hip for people to like in the last decade. Chart music in both South Korea and Japan I find to be quite bad in general now.

He's been around since the late 80s, this is one of my favourite songs by him

But there's hundreds of other good songs from other people. Mainstream pop can still have good direct melody there unlike other places where modern mainstream western pop style, often bland, has infiltrated more.

I like the first two very much, pretty soothing. But the last one is very catchy.

Yeh there can be quite a soothing smooth style to ballads, though still very much about the melody not about just the production or a nice vocal I think. They have the catchiest pop music I think of the last decade. Here is a disco styled one:
