Yes I would have to agree with you there as far as fleshing out something from 1400 BC with a modern orchestra. I was doing a bit of Googling on the composition and it seems it was only very loosely based on the original music. Shame really. It is certainly a tantalising concept.

Eeeee, I really dislike that Heliotrope track. Her voice reminds me of a slightly less pleasant Origa.

I like the stringed-instrument part though. Is it a harp or dulcimer...or something else??

I also agree, it seems really different rom what the music on the two websites stp posted sounds like.

But then again, I listened to all of those MIDIs and while it's cool that they have the music, it's not extremely interesting. Just hymns...

Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares - Bulgarian State Radio & Television Female Vocal Choir (1975, Reissued 1986 on 4AD/ 1987 in US)

Bulgarian Womens' Choir featured on Fly, Fly My Sadness. Thought I would finally check out the original album compiled by ethnomusicologist Marcel Cellier.

Doudou Ndiaye Rose - Djabote

While the purely percussive tracks on this album can be a little homogeneous the vocal tracks are rather wonderful.
