Default Please help me find a genre of latin music!

Hi there,

I'm really starting to get into latin music, but I'm finding it difficult to find the specific type I'm after...It's obviously extremely famous, but I'm after music exactly the like the signature Buena Vista Social Club song 'Chan Chan'.

I've tried looking at various offshoots from BVSC like the Afro-cuban all stars, but most of the songs seem to be very brass heavy and just 'busy' overall, which (while I don't mind) is not what I am looking for. Are there any good bands you know of which are predominantly based around the rythmn section (percussion, guitars, bass etc.) with minimal brass (can have a little bit like the song above), and preferably in a cuban style?

Thanks for the help
