That is a great song, Gavin B.

I like just about anything by Mickey Newbury, a criminally overlooked singer/songwriter.

This old Steve Young song is another favorite of mine. The great James Burton is playing dobro and Graham Parson is playing organ. The song was written by Utah Phillips. His lyrics are amazing.

I don't know why Steve Young didn't go very far with his career. He had a fantastic voice.

It's become almost indistinguishable from generic pop. Throw on a cowboy hat, sing with a bit of a twang, maybe throw in a slide guitar here and there, and - kazam! - your ordinary pop tune has become a country song.
