Default Brandy Clark

Another talented songwriter from Nashville.

A far cry from the "Bro' Country" nonsense currently in vogue with country radio!

That opening clip is wonderful, Moshe - beautiful guitar intro, great voice and clever lyrics. I´m no fan of country, but this woman seems to have something special. Thanks for giving me a lead to a new artist.

Brandy Clark has been around awhile as a songwriter but she only put out an album of original songs this year. The album, 12 Stories got her a few country music award nominations in 2013. NPR music critic Ann Powers named the album her favorite of 2013. Powers noted that others share her sentiments, writing, "the top honor on many critics' lists is going to Clark, a storyteller of the highest caliber."

Thanks for the info, Gavin.
To judge from Moshe´s clips, 12 Stories is a good title because she does a great job as a storyteller. I like the way she can set a scene with a couple of commonplace details. Without being too cheesy, she makes sure that we can all identify with her characters, before she fleshes out the story and circumstances that give depth to her picture.

I am far more impressed by Brandy Clark's album than her list of credits as writer of hits would have led me to expect. She had a hand in penning Miranda Lambert's "Mama's Broken Heart" & The Band Perry's "Better Dig Two". I did not like either of those, though I like some other songs by Miranda & the Band Perry.
But this album of Brandy Clark is my album of the year. At a time when the country charts are becoming more generic and formulaic, this talented songwriter, & the superb Kacey Musgraves give me hope for country music's future as a genre of great song writing.
