Default The Alt.Country / Roots Thread...

So...I haven't see much about this genre posted but I though I'd give it a shot. Even though these genres are separate I thought I could combine two on my loves in a single thread.

I grew up a Gram Parsons fan and have carried that forward with me. I also grew up listening to Appalachian roots musics because my dad was a fan. So, it was fantastic when I heard bands like Uncle Tupelo and Gillian Welch bringing back the music I'd loved from my youth.

Any fans here? If so, I have scads of music that I'd love to share with you.

I don't feel this should be moved. This is the GENERAL music section which should include all music. Alt Country and Roots could fit in as well here as in country.

I'd like for you to move it back please.

I like Lucinda Williams Quite a bit (though not as much as my wife does),and Jerry Jeff Walker, and Esp. Fred Eaglesmith. Not my favorite genre of music, but one i can definitely appreciate.

It was moved because 'The Alt.Country / Roots Thread' sounds very much like it would be at home in the 'Country, Folk & World Music' section.
Unless I'm missing something...

i am the biggest jerry jeff fan you'll ever meet,.......
mom says the first song i ever learned was his 'sangria wine', at around two

if you dig jerry jeff you should also check out gary p nunn,...who was once one of the 'gonzos' and penned his hit 'london homesick blues'
also, many of jerry jeffs hits were covers of guy clark tunes,...so if you've not given him a listen, i'd recomend that as well

his son django is also big on the texas scene down here,......his 'texas on my mind' was a big hit for pat green and cory morrow a few years back,.....also two talents to check out

pat green, pre 'wave on wave' days were really a hay day for texas music

others you might like

mike mcclure
scott evans
the kyle hunt band
reckless kelly
