Introduction & sharing Asian Music
My account have been banned twice.
First, You have been banned for the following reason: No reason was specified. Date the ban will be lifted: Never Second, You have been banned for the following reason: Can't have your broken english spamming up the boards bud, sorry Date the ban will be lifted: Never I just want to share Asian music. However, I can't post any link until I post more than 15 threads/replies. |
I don't know why they ban me twice. In order to count up quickly, some posting are short. So they ban my account?
"No reason was specified." (Does it can be a reason to ban me?) "Can't have your broken english spamming up the boards bud, sorry" (even the word "english" without capitalize first letter, my broken English...) In my opinion, I didn't broke the MusicBanter Forum Rules. If there is no full reason to ban me, I think this forum is................ |

You're welcome to share Asian music, as long as you're not promoting, selling, or soliciting your own.
Maybe you should make an introduction thread: Introductions - Music Banter |

Something wrong with Manchu music? I don't know who is San Te, and your picture is a Buddhist monk. I want to show you a Manchu Shaman drum, but I can't. (1.You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more.) |
On page one, I posted a list about different area of Asian Music.
Different region and race have different music style/trait. Each region of the music, I can use 4 Chinese characters to summarize their music trait, but Translate it to English I need to use more words. Again, it just a music trait summary, it's not a specific instructions. (I want to talk about them later, while I can share music on here) So, here is the Asian music trait summary list. Manchu(Tungus)---Call of Shaman (呼唤萨满) Mongol---Prairie Totem (草原图腾) Korea---Thousands of years of a Red-Crowned Crane (千年一鹤) Yamato(Japanese)---Immolation Devil and God (献祭魔神) Uyghur(The Western Region/Central Asia)---Dance Partner of Tambourine (手鼓舞伴) Tibet Plateau---Buddha Zen Sound (佛陀禅音) Southwest---Bonfire and Bamboo Dance (篝火竹排) Vietnam(+Lao)----Sad Melody of One String Zither (独弦忧律) Han-Chinese---Elegant and Classic Ceremony music (礼雅典乐) Taiwan(Indigenous peoples)---Original Moan (原始哼吟) These music trait summaries are related to their instrument, singing style, music style, culture background, history............ If you have some knowledge about Asian music, you can understand these music trait summaries' meaning. |
Ohhh. You really do know a lot of Asian music. Only 7 more posts... :)

I don't believe the 15 post limit applies to youtube videos.

After 1700, Russia conquer all the North Asian nomad, and eat a lot of Mongolian territories. After 1860, Russia let Qing dynasty give them a lot of Northeast and Northwest territories. U.S.S.R let Mongolia Independent and Mongolia become their vassal. Therefore, nowadays Russia have some great Mongolian music band. Because Russia conquer Tuva in 1914. They can easily spread their music in western world. Tuvan throat singing was found by a Russian. So throat singing be called Tuvan throat singing in English In fact, throat singing is a nomad singing style. Chinese historical book recorded that Xiongnu(Huns) already has throat singing. So throat singing popular in Russian, Mongolia, China(Inner Mongolia province), Central Asia(Historical reason) There are some beautiful throat singing songs in Mongolia and China, but western people don't know it.----because these songs don't have English name. I have listened a lot of throat singing songs, I think the best singing throat song is a Manchu throat singing song. The name is "Manchu Music---Xibe(Chinese Ethnicity) Girl---满族音乐---锡伯姑娘 " You can find it on YouTube, this Manchu throat singing is high pitch-throat singing. There are two types of throat singing. One is high pitch-throat singing, another is low pitch-throat singing. Your YouTube video is low pitch-throat singing. Btw, the most popular Huun-Huur-Tu music is huun huur tu & carmen rizzo - ancestors call (eternal) Huun Huur Tu & Carmen Rizzo - Orphaned Child Huun Huur Tu & Carmen Rizzo - In Search of a Lost Past Carmen Rizzo & Huun Huur Tu - Mother + Taiga .......................................... You can copy the name of these 4 songs and find it on YouTube. (Maybe you know it) I think their(Huun-Huur-Tu) music is the Mongolian epic music. However, there are many beautiful Mongolian music you can't find on YouTube and western music website. I'll talk about Mongolian music style, trait and instrument later, I still want to talk about Manchu music first. |
There are more than two types of throat singing. You have kargyraa, which is the low, rumbling type of singing that uses your vestibular folds. Then you have khoomei, which is the one with the higher whistling controlled by emboichre. Then you have sygt, which sounds just like khoomei, but has a wider range and can hit more overtones. Plus underneath all of these you have various substyles, oidupaa kargyraa is probably the most well known.
One of the cooler things that I find about Tuvan throat singing is that the techniques are to mimick different elements of nature: wind blowing down mountainsides, water swirling through rocks, etc. |

I think you know about your country's traditional/folk music too. It's hard to count up post. I reply Stephen post about a little Mongolian throat singing knowledge. I also mention one Manchu music and four Mongolian music. If you like it. You can copy the name and find them on YouTube. Your picture is a Chinese Temple. You like Taoist? |

In China, Mongolia Japan,....we just call it throat singing. Because throat singing isn't a Tuva's patent. Your are right throat singing is that the techniques are to mimick different elements of nature. It has an official Chinese name, but I forgot it. Ancient nomad people start to mimick the sound of river, mountain, forest, wind and animals like cattle, sheep, horse.....In the end, this sound become throat singing. btw, If you are Asian maybe you know it, If you aren't good find. :thumb: |
Not Asian in the slightest, I just like beautiful music.

That's why I really want to share and talk Manchu music first. Due to some reason, people in the world know about Japanese music, Mongol music. but, other part of Asia they have limited knowledge. even Han-Chinese music and Korean music(I'm not talk the Korean pop, all the pop music is western music and using western instrument) If I don't talk about Manchu music, I think you never hear it before.:afro: |
I can't even find the genre on a google search to check whether or not I did know any of those artists. Cough it up, what are some good albums to check out?
Also, to post youtube videos, you don't need fifteen posts. You just need to take the link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzrrijkzA7U, for example) and then take the bit after "watch?v=" (which would be WzrrijkzA7U in this case) and post that text in between youtube tags. Quote this post to see what the final result looks like. (Video is not related to this thread btw, Ayler is an American artist). |
Exo is a racist.

I live in the UK and have never been to China but would love to visit. It looks beautiful.
I'm not familiar with Han-Chinese music or Asian music in general. But hopefully you can help change that. |

Because there are 56 nationalities in China People in the world just call all of them are Chinese, but you know some Chinese are Mongolian, Manchu, Uyghur, Tibetan........... Every nationalities have their own Music style. There are more than 90% people in China are Han-Chinese, more than 98% people in Taiwan are Han-Chinese. Therefore, Han-Chinese music, Chinese call it "Ancient customs/wind music" As you know, I don't want to share any Asian Pop or Asian Rap & Hip-Hop...................I just want to share some music or songs that use their particular traditional instruments. Some western instruments + traditional Asian instruments music also okay. However, I don't want to share Asian music which only use western instruments like piano, violin.....on this thread. |
