Unfortunately I don't think so. People in general can be perfectly intelligent as it pertains to living their life, working their job, raising their family, and in general all those things that people have been doing for thousands of years to exist in their own little worlds. It's when they start applying that provincial knowledge and experience on a wider stage that humanity's stupidity becomes obvious and relevant. I'd be totally down to hear Chula's opinions on mortgages, I just don't think he knows what he's talking about beyond that.

Ah. So let's leave it up to whales to solve the problems of Global Warming. Assuming the Japanese stop killing them.

It's happened before, though off-hand the only historically uplifting example that comes to mind is Copernicus with all his heliocentric nonsense.
Surely Galileo and Darwin figure in there too?

I imagine if we did then we would have predicted and prevented the Great Recession, or at least not have been completely blindsided by it. We are dealing with an endless morass of issues that have become so complex and intertwined that there is no conceivable way that the human brain can deal with them without technological assistance.
The problem there is human greed. If anyone had been able to predict, with 100% accuracy, any of the Crashes, then or now, our reaction would have been "**** it! I'm not stopping making money. Maybe it won't happen"....

Batty was thrown out of Hell. Meat Loaf wrote an album about it.

More ranting babble Bat, (although extremely well written and with solid prose). That's basically what you've been doing for the last 20 pages or so. Put forth something of of substance, or STFU and go take a shower. God knows you need one. MB agrees.
Needs more beer.

I think he's saying humanity is doomed cos we're too stupid to realise we're too stupid to be able to sort stuff out on a global scale? He might just be high though.

Humanity isn't so much doomed as they just have no business currently making worldwide decisions. Like I said, human+ might be the answer. And you can disagree all you want to satisfy your Marx boner, but I'd like to think that you will eventually outgrow your mindless idealism the same way that Goofle will hopefully outgrow his. Not that you're as cringey, but your schtick is still goofy and too idealistic to survive in the real world.

Yes. And this is an opinion I've had sober for years.

That's fantastic. You're still an idealist who's not as naive as Qwerty, but still naive. Mostly because you're too in love with the idea of saving the world through political participation and perfecting your ideology.

Then yes. There has to be. Even Batty I'm sure will agree we cannot possibly be the highest form of life in the universe. That would just be the ultimate joke.
