This was the dead woman's mom and one of her friends. Both of who collaborated the intervention.

Why would the family hold an intervention just a week before mom and dad was shot?

My guess is that the politics of her parents (they were said to be vocal on social issues which likely means left-leaning) annoyed her and she swung far in the other direction because she's a teenager.

Reston VA has a population of about 60,000. This story has blown up nationally. Safe to say that there's dozens of reporters on the ground knocking on doors of neighbors, local businesses, speaking with the local neighborhood watch groups (was a pretty modern planned area - we have them, bet you do too Frowny) eager to break a big story about the parents or some other juicy angle.

Cute little theory there BTW. How many 16 year old girls give a **** about politics so much that a difference of opinion with their parents (and we don't even know that they were left leaning - got any "content") would lead her to a neo-nazi?

Maybe, just maybe this guy was cute and showed her some affection and she fell for him on a purely teenage crush kinda way. Maybe he was simply pissed that the parents were getting in the way (what's the chance that during the intervention she shouted out "But mom and dad, I love him!" a couple of times?)

Maybe, just maybe this brainwashed dude (let's see what they find out about his parents) was just a very pissed off kid who boiled over at the parents when they'd discovered he'd snuck into her room through a window.

There were 4 other adults in the house at the time, whose accounts of the shootings should be very telling.

If the two kids had come up with the idea to kill the parents so they could run off together with no interference, why did the kid turn the gun on himself?

- Was he suicidal over the fact that he was being blocked from his love and figured he'd take out the parents as revenge before killing himself? The parents were aware that he'd been dating their daughter for weeks and they all knew each pretty well. It was finding the tweets that started the downhill slide.

- Why was the kid carrying? Was he so hard core that he conceal carried a gun (illegal in Virginia for a 17 year old) with him all the time? Or did he specifically take it with him that morning (shooting took place around 5:00am)

- All 4 of Renton's congressional representatives are Democrats so it's a pretty liberal place. The 16 year old daughter would have grown up with that so her parents wouldn't have been unique as far as ideology goes.

- Back to the suicide theory, let's assume the kid was keeping his Nazi views hidden from the public and only spouted online using alter-ego usernames. The twitter account the mom found didn't use his real name. The mom immediately calls his school principle which would have outed him to his family. If the info leaked at school to any students it would have gone major viral. His life is suddenly hell. No girlfriend and being looked at as a freak loser by his peers and probably ridiculed and bullied like crazy.

Who's to blame for of all of this? The mother. She's ruined his life.
My bet's on Murder/Suicide now. He didn't kill his love, nor any of the other 4 people in the house, so it wasn't some sort of mass killing.

Just because someone is from a liberal area doesn't mean that they are as well. In fact, I think that living among a generally conservative or liberal place can push you away from that ideology because you get to see firsthand how people will absorb the mainstream ideology of where they live without thinking about it. Pretty sure that more conservatives have been made on account of liberals than conservative efforts and vice versa.

I'm gonna guess that he didn't want to face murder charges, but that's likely too.
