It does suck. There is still, however, a way to uphold your Miranda rights even with this abominable ruling. Don't EVER, and by ever I mean NEVER EVER, answer any question that police ask except to identify yourself, even if you feel you've done no wrong. Much more can go bad for you that good. I once heard a story about some guy who got pulled over for speeding or some such and was given a ticket. Apparently the man wasn't pleased with this, berated the cop and then threw the ticket onto the ground. The cop then gave him another ticket for littering.
