I imagine even he had better things to do than watch The Apprentice.

Led Zeppelin Icon Forms Huge Supergroup With Grunge Legend

Quote:

Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones will form a supergroup, that will potentially only perform once, with Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Steve Noble on March 28th at the 100 Club in London. Moore and Sonic Youth were pioneers of the Grunge era of the 90’s, after starting their career in the 80’s.

Could be really interesting though.

Sad reporting, good line-up.

John Paul Jones better bring his A game if he expects to keep up. Thurston too to be honest.

ofc their debut is more my style

don't take this the wrong way because I luv SY but am I the only one that sees Moore as a superfan of alternative music rather than organically special

Lee surrendered too much power his way. Thurston was very charismatic but the better sounds came out of Lee’s guitar.

I know what you mean by the superfan thing but Thurston’s legacy goes way beyond that. Thurston and Lee jointly are the last two guitar legends.

Yeah. I mean I remember when it came out and my heart sank. Daydream Nation was already pointing in much safer direction then the next thing I knew people who had never heard Bad Moon Rising were walking in Goo t-shirts. It was like Sonic Youth had been gentrified. And Goo is painfully inferior to Confusion, BMR, EVOL, and Sister.

Quote:

the idea of guitar legends seems contrary to the point of the music they play
They were indeed a guitar band and definitely guitar heroes. They were the final statement concerning rock’n’roll guitar that was born as Chuck Berry hit its stride with Hendrix and died in the atonal roar of early Sonic Youth.
