Is anyone else following, with dwindling amusement and rising disgust, the tale of the UK ambassador to Washington and his leaked verdict on the Trump admin?

Brit PM Theresa May, and Jeremy Hunt (a candidate to replace May), both stood up for the ambassador, saying that he was only doing his job in reporting his honest assessment of the White House. Worryingly for Britain, the most probable incoming Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, hasn't defended the ambassador, demonstrating that he would rather be Trump's pet poodle than defend Britain's career diplomats.

Trump has refused to work with the ambassador and now the poor guy has had to resign. At another time, I bet the worst disciplinary action would've been to post the guy somewhere else to keep him out of Trump's way. As it is, his resignation sends an uncomfortable message to any other diplomats stationed in Washington: telling the truth about the White House could cost you your job.

And finally, as one news outlet points out, Trump's refusal to cooperate professionally with the ambassador is in strange contrast to Trump's treatment of KimJungUn: after KJU publicly declared that Trump was "a mentally deranged dotard", Trump was boasting like a besotted teenager that he and KJU had fallen in love. Can't DT find any love in his heart for a Brit diplomat as well?

The KJU stuff is clearly just schmaltzy fake nice guy salesman tactics. I'm not sure if that ineffective and patronizing approach is the best way to work with your ambassador.

Our president is an egotistical dip**** so this story doesn't surprise me. Just another footnote of another page of another chapter in the book of American executive expansion.

I don't remember the details so I couldn't say for sure but it would in no way surprise me. Would surprise me if he was above it tbh.

Details is he was accused of raping a 13 year old, several times, at convicted pedophile and child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein's house. She dropped the case citing death threats as the reason.

The evidence supporting it is that they did have a close relationship during that time. Jeffrey used to frequent Trumps Mar-A-Lago club to find underage women. Trump did used to attend parties at Jeffery's house. Trump commented that Jeffrey “likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.” Multiple witnesses were in the case. Plus, Trump is a bit of a creep.

Evidence against it is they came and disappeared during the 2016 campaign. They had aggressively contacted as many sources as possible. Their representatives were known for throwing accusations at Trump. One of them remained anonymous. They pulled out of court before any hearing. And the detective working on the Epstein case said it didn't seem to correlate with what he knew about Epstein's activities at the time, although he wasn't willing to dismiss it. They think they could have been regurgitating public info about Epstein's orgies, but they don't know.

He did it but they’re not going to go after a president for that or anything because they worship the position of authority.

The entire police force from the capital police to the federal agencies to local police forces. Pretty much 99.9999% of Americans. Everyday that Trump goes without being arrested by every person in America who can is proof that people, basically ALL people, are ****ing sheep.
