I think I should expound upon this before someone takes this as me saying that indoctrination is okay somehow. The first lesson you receive from your parents is that they love you. The second is to obey. 99.999% of parents do not make it clear that the second lesson should not mean that all forms of authority should be obeyed, they simply want you to obey them because Jesus Christ the kid is trying to stick their tongue in an electrical socket. Parentage is the first line of defense for societies to train children to obey authority and that obedience is harmful in many ways.

So clearly there is something about this society you prefer. And correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you can point to a society that enjoys the same level of technological advancement while not bothering to educate their young to the best of their abilities.
