Something needs to come from this in regards to how cricket players are protected. Clearly, a helmet alone does not cut it.
But if you give them too much padding they become less mobile and end up getting hit more. And a cricket ball is a hell of a lot harder than a baseball.

Maybe they need softer balls. I know nothing about the sport, does it really matter if they use a baseball like ball instead of a rock?
