Yeah. we got a population of just shy of 6.5 MILLION and they're enthusing that 21 THOUSAND doses were just released for Ireland from the EU. Go on guys! Have a party! Vaccinate, what, less than 0.3% of your people? Thanks lads!

No, what I mean is that the virus will not vanish in a puff of smoke once that courses through your veins. All the experts - including Faucci - have said it: you're still going to have to wear a mask, wash your hands, socially distance etc for some time. We can't relax until herd immunity is achieved, and that will take a long time.
It's not going to be the suit of armour/force field people seem to think it will be, right away. It's not like "well now I've had the shot, bin the mask and have a hug from me" or whatever. |
Like I said in the mask wars thread I’ll follow the guidelines but tbh telling someone who has had a vaccination with a 95% efficacy rate that they still have to behave the same way sounds like “the stop buying masks” be from March 02, 2020

I believe the honest message is don’t act like you’ve had the vaccine until you’ve had it. Once you’re vaccinated you’re only 1/20 as likely to have the virus and if the person you’re interacting with is vaccinated as well they’re only 1/20 as likely to be susceptible to it. Plus, with high risk comorbid people being vaccinated first the likelihood of catastrophic results are again profoundly reduced. Like with that **** above when they were trying to tell me masks don’t work I was like hmmm they work for medical staff but not for me... not buying that one chief ... I’ll follow the guidelines but the left and the right and even “the scientific community” needs to start talking straight. They come at everything sideways. |
Problem is it is already damn near impossible to enforce the cultural norm of people wearing masks. People already walk around without them. And nobody knows in a public space whether you've had the vaccine or not so letting them not wear masks just gives cover to all the people who haven't been vaccinated but walk around maskless anyway.
To me it's a sign of disrespect to come near me with out the mask. Whether you've been vaccinated or already had the virus or not. I don't know that. Shut up and put your damn mask on till this **** is over. And I'm saying this as someone who can't wait to not wear these stupid masks. I have to do 12 hour shifts in a mask and ****ing safety glasses. **** is annoying af. |
Like jwb says. Belt and braces man, belt and braces. I'm not going to be taking any chances. Not that I expect to get the shot before Christmas anyway, when by then it might no longer be necessary, but I'll listen to the advice and follow it, as I always have. I don't know **** about this virus so I'll listen to those who do.

I’ll wear a mask until whenever but I don’t have any respect for anyone’s ****ing opinion on the matter because the only one I ever met who was saying what really needed to be done to stop this thing was me. Only me. I’m mother****ing Copernicus up in here so don’t start lecturing me about the earth orbiting the sun now goddamnit. I said it when it ****ing mattered. |
