Omg I forgot about the Space Force. Why on earth has Biden not just disbanded the ****ing thing? Now they're talking about a Space Guard?

Battle brews over creating Space National Guard

Quote:
“The delay in creating a National Guard Space Force could have disastrous impacts — potentially orphaning our existing space units from their logical parent service and negatively impacting readiness, retention and morale,” Maj. Gen. James Eifert, Florida’s adjutant general, wrote last summer.
"Our existing space units" Omfg I'm dying.

The prototype uniform for "Our Existing Space Units" is currently undergoing trials:

I found the photo in an article with an inspired title:

The colorful uniforms worn by the crew of the Starship Enterprise count as some of the most iconic looks ever. Here's how they've evolved over the past 50 years.

Ah sure that's nothing. Tony Iommi cut part of his finger off in a works accident and ended up creating heavy metal!

Is this ****ing serious???

News Alert: Facebook changes its company name to Meta

Facebook is changing its company name to Meta as it confronts wide-ranging scrutiny of the real-world harms from its various platforms after a whistleblower leaked hundreds of internal documents.

The change will demote Facebook's namesake service to being just one of the company's subsidiaries, alongside Instagram and WhatsApp, rather than the overarching brand.

A rebranding could be part of an effort to overhaul Facebook's reputation and turn the page following a series of PR nightmares, including misinformation on its platforms, content moderation failures and revelations about the negative effect its products have on some users' mental health.

They think that by changing their name everyone is going to be fooled and forget all the **** they've been accused of? Un-****ing-believable!

Tbh most people are so glazed over by their society not caring whether they live or die this sounds like an overreaction.

I dunno, the right seems to think that Facebook censors too much and the left seems to think they don't censor enough. In my eyes, this would mean that they're right on the money in terms of how they handle content control and censorship.

As for their scandals and misuse of personal data though, I can't defend that. They are delving deep into the VR space and I think they're betting on that being a big financial success but I suppose we'll see. It certainly seems like a smart move to me.

That is some absolute dip**** logic that only works if you're too lazy to have actual standards. I mean Facebook has literally contributed to genocide and actively refrains from stopping conspiracy theories for the sake of upping engagement. If you think that's just right then you're a ****ing moron.
