Trump has been implying that the recall election vote would be rigged as well. Maybe I'm missing something, but how is this a good play for the Republicans? Wouldn't sending this message out just sow resentment and apathy among Republican voters, thus decreasing turnout in future elections because they just assume the election will be rigged anyway?
And for any meaningful election reform, why would Republicans in office pursue that when they got elected with the system as it currently exists? |

Because ratcheting up the culture war against liberals is the only thing they can do to connect to their base. Where this will lead is of course something not to think about.
