Leslie Jones speaks out after harasser Yiannopoulos lands book deal

See the correction. He was a white supremacist and alt-right figurehead before that. Fake news amirite?

Also lol @ ban the books, we mustn't fund the books. Better resort to burning them.

Didn't see anything about banning any books in there.

I like both her and Sarah Silverman as comedians but getting all butt hurt just because someone who has differing views has earned a platform is pretty weak sauce. I know Leslie Jones got trolled on Twitter but good lord she's a ****ing movie star. If that's not enough of the good life for you what the **** is?

Yeah but it goes against the spirit of free expression to hassle the publisher. I'd like to see people be more supportive of the free exchange of ideas. I guess that includes Leslie Jones' ideas as well so that kind of paints me into a corner. Oh well, I for one hope well articulated voices, even those I disagree with, continue to be heard. That's part of being a true liberal.

He shares the views of white supremacists and the alt right? Where are the lies? Where is the fake news? No one is talking about book burning the most I've seen is a call to boycott the publisher. Which I feel is just something arm chair activists are tweeting about. If you don't like the book, don't talk about it or buy it. It's so simple. There is an aspect of allowing hateful language to be given a platform to spread out but I don't think it will change the minds of those that aren't already in that train of thought.

They are allowed to be butthurt all they want and express those opinions even if you disagree with them. Also it was more than being trolled on Twitter. She ended up having her nudes leaked over it. It doesn't matter what your job is or how much money you make. That's still an invasion of privacy.

Milo didn't hack her email.

I've watched him on YouTube and read a few of his articles. Find me a quote that's so offensive. I think he's mostly just fun to hate because he's well spoken, good looking, and charismatic. Toss the gay anti-feminist dynamic on it and you have quite a curiosity.

djchameleon 01-07-2017 06:52 AM

Milo's influence did though. You can't deny when people especially the group that follows and adores Milo take up arms to do things like that. He's definitely influential through the things he says that are hateful and he has a following of trade A pieces of shit.

i don't necessarily think there's white privilege, but certainly a cultural one. i don't believe there's any privilege granted to a white man over a black man in a situation where they are both college educated working class individuals. however within many poor areas with a high density of black population it can be incredibly difficult to overcome the odds and escape the situation that they were placed into originally due to their race.

You described what white privilege is though.

White privilege is such a misunderstood term.

If you have a white person and a black person applying for the same job and they are both qualified for it. Employers are more likely to hire John than they are to hire Jamal.

It's based off of underlying prejudices that people aren't even aware of subconsciously. Yes it is illegal to do that but there is also no way to prove that it was that reason alone that determine them to hire John over Jamal. If there was evidence then the ACLU could get involved.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 01-07-2017 07:15 AM

no, what you just described and what I described is entirely different. i don't believe there are black people with the exact same requirements as white people not getting a job because of their race. what I said is that poverty is incredibly difficult to escape and many black people have been placed into a position of poverty through actions of the past.
