Mitch McConnell said he supports allowing states to declare bankruptcy.
I looked at several articles and didn’t get a clear answer to my first question which is: Would that mean they wouldn’t have to be pay pensions for state workers? Several articles mention pensions but none said directly bankruptcy could be used to not have to pay pensions. I know that corporations have filed bankruptcy and never paid promised pensions even after they became solvent again. Some auto-workers who worked for 30 plus years never got their pensions. I’m sure that caused plenty of suicides. |

Man if he’s in Muslim Heaven he’s laughing his ass off.

Vietnam hasn’t had a single death.
They closed school in Jan. They have a one party Leninist communist government. Quote:

tbh I didn’t totally discount the guy at the Florida somewhere city council who said use a hairdryer to heat up your nose
Totally unscientific but so is pretty much everything else so far |

It's cherry picking propaganda nonsense. Every problem you've gotten from "communist" governments is the same problems you get with any authoritarian dictatorship. So common sense should tell you that it's not the economic platform that causes the problems but the authoritarianism. People tend to lack common sense, though. |
Idk tbh
Just from my observations that were a long time ago and don’t mean **** anyway because I was just a tourist but it didn’t appear to have the crushing poverty of places like India or the United States. As far as how much what happens in practice aligns with their official policy - probably not that much really. China felt a lot more aggressive and regimented to me. And from what I saw in China very brutal poverty was quite prevalent. |

Man. When I google pictures of what it looks like now compared to when I was there it’s insane.
This may seem pretty modest https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Ydbk-Y8gaa0/hqdefault.jpg But there was no modern architecture when I was there. I am so old. |

I'm waiting for there to be some kind of catch as to why Vietnam is evil or something.
|
I mean they're a small enough country that it's possible they manage to... install(?) leaders who aren't ****bags.
|
From what I read it seems fairly fascist there. Like, neighbors are snitches. They have a culture of snitching.
|
Where have you read this stuff?

The snitching thing was from articles talking about why Vietnam doesn't have any covid deaths. The others were from Wikipedia because I was curious as to why a socialist country isn't brought up a lot by socialists to argue in favor of it or from people that would use it as an example of the evils of socialism/communism. Edit: I also read that they made anybody spreading misinformation about the virus pay a fine. |

I agree... I think that's exactly why every major communist country has been poor and politically chaotic prior to the revolution... People in well functioning 1st world democracies are far too complacent to gamble on that sort of thing.
This has also been shown to be true just with communist or socialist parties in Western countries... The more liberal the ruling regime is, the less radical their major socialist parties are. This makes them more likely to compromise with the regime and thus less likely for the revolution to ever happen. |
It's almost as if it is human nature to embrace conveniences (like their favorite drink at Starbucks, running water, functioning city services, etc.) as opposed to embracing higher risk and participating in political activities that will most certainly destroy those conveniences.
|
Ahh, so you and bat agree that humans are complacent selfish monkey people or something. You know the **** Bat says.
