I'm not sure what the punishment should be for purposefully spreading a deadly disease, but "removing the stigma" from those who are HIV+ isn't a good reason to lower the scale of offence.

I think the bit about stigmatising HIV stops people getting tested is bollocks. What stops you getting tested is the fear of having what can be a deadly disease.

That was definitely the case for me. I didn't want to know because I was so scared. I'm negative but before I finally got tested I thought this is going to bum me out so bad I'd rather wait until I get sick. Then I actually got pneumonia and thought ok here we go. So at that point I got tested.

Same. left it for ages before I did it then got so anxious thinking about it I got a taxi and went to the clinic on my own, tested neg, was delighted. In reality the risk was low anyway. I didn't expose anyone to the risk in that time btw in case someone asks.

The nurse said lots of people end up doing that, putting it off out of fear then just thinking **** it I need to know.

Bet the relief when you tested neg was euphoric

I read the article and it's still bull****. Yeah, I get the point that medical advances have made HIV manageable, but knowingly giving someone HIV is still inflicting a delayed death sentence on someone, even if they never actually contract AIDS. That should be a felony.

I figure it's so ****ing stupid to trust anybody it's on me to decide to **** carefully. I don't think anything about consensual sex should be regulated.
