As for your other question, if Auschwitz was in Ireland wouldn’t you feel like you guys pussed out a bit?

Yes of course. There were Catholic interment camps in Northern Ireland in the seventies you know. But I would personally never refer to Auschwitz as a "Polish concentration camp". It was a Nazi concentration camp that happened to be IN Poland. Are all those "black torture sites" that were uncovered a while back seen as run by those states, or by the CIA?

Yeah, it's an unnecessary law. As far as Polish complicity goes, you may want to read the graphic novel, Maus, by Art Speigelman. It is about how his family dealt with the holocaust in Poland and you can see how some Poles were complicit, not out of evil (though there was some anti-Semitism as well), but basically for their own survival. It had to have been a living nightmare then.

I'm sure there was SOME complicity, for various reasons (scores get settled in wars, sadly) but the point is that making it about whether it was a Nazi (German) camp or a Polish one surely trivialises the existence of same? What: it's not a Polish camp it's a German one. Phew! That was close! We can forget about it now?
I'd be interested to hear Yac's take on this, of course.
