3 million is a very large number but it is very unimpressive in context. Losing to ****ing Trump is equivocal to getting your ads handed to you because it's Donald ****ing Trump.

Another one bites the dust.

Gorka resigns from White House | TheHill

He still hasn't completely filled his cabinet after all this time.

They lost the 2010 mid-terms mainly because of the tea party and the passage of Obamacare, which the GOP made into some sort evil on par with Satan himself. Remember Palin screaming "death panels" all over the country.

And the tea party has now been absorbed by the alt right. For a large portion of a country that's ridiculously partisan right now, they simply will not vote for a democrat because they will take away their guns, strongly fight to keep the separation of church and state (heathens), advocate murdering babies in their own backyards, and take away your job and give it to a Mexican.

There's really no more nuance in regard to real policy, it's all about boiler plate issues for many, many people in this country.

Lolol if you think that the alt right stole a significant number of people from the tea party, you understand neither.

I read this yesterday. A record of all the things Trump has undone since in office.

The number of tea party chapters has shrunk from over 1,000 to under 600 nationwide because they simply started running out of gas. And stop talking down to me. I know plenty about both organizations. Racism was always a bit motivator with a large percentage of the TP. Remember?

The alt-right is big on white nationalism (a fancy word for racism). Of course as the Tea Party fizzled a lot of members gravitated over to the much more popular and powerful alt-right movement.

What's so hard to understand?

I will never be able to vote for a politician that runs on a platform that makes the NRA, the Pro-Life Bible thumping folks, and the big banks and wall street people really, really happy. Sames goes for those who deny global warming and who want to relax EPA and OSHA regulations so that billionare businessmen can reep even more profits.

That pretty much eliminates 95% of Republicans including everyone who was on the GOP ticket this go around.

So that left Bernie and Hillary. Bernie being elected would have been like tossing a badger into the henhouse. He most likely would have run into the same obstruction as Trump has so far. He ran a campaign that tugged at a lot of people's ideals of how they'd like things to be - but just ask Trump about the reality of what happens once you actually hold the position.

That left Clinton. She's pro-choice, is for reasonable gun control, in favor of Wall Street regulations, believes in Global warming, and supports protecting the environement. She's got a ton of experience navigating the henhouse, has the respect of a lot of world leaders from her 4 years as secretary of state, and even if they won't say in front of a camera, has the respect of a lot of foxes.

Least full dumpster from where I sit.
^ Excellent summary of the 2016 election choices.

Even if you have no love for HC, it was clear at the time that she wouldn't have let loose on America the kind of ****storm that Trump was promising. Voting for a lesser evil may leave you with an unsatisfactory feeling of compromise, but it can still effectively block a greater evil and oftentimes in politics that alone is a significant achievement. Unfortunately in 2016 not enough voters saw it that way.

It was split between people thinking she had it in the bag and not coming out to vote, people that didn't like her and was still on Bernie's dick and these apathetic holier than thou people that makes up the rest. Bat, Frown and a few others fit into that last one.

Yes, I think a lot of Democratic voters were too complaisant, and in the run up to the election, as far as I remember, several MB posters seemed to take the attitude that all politicians suck, so why bother.

Actually, there are plenty of reasons to bother, the main one being pointed out by the guy who said, "The only thing needed for evil to triumph is for a few good men to do nothing."

And getting back to the news of the day, I see that Trump has pardoned Joe Arpeio. This is a very sinister development because of the message the President is sending; "You can abuse the power of your office and break the law, but if you're on my side I'll give you impunity." I'm sure that point will not be lost on plenty of other bullying racist officials.

Impunity like that for over-zealous officials is one of the reasons that Mexico is unable to shake off the corruption that runs through its politics, and Trump has just taken the US one step closer to a repressive sham third-world democracy. I hope the US doesn't go any furthur down that road, because once blatant top-down corruption is in the system, rather like pee in a swimming pool, it's difficult to take it out again.

Perhaps some non-voters will learn a lesson in time for the next election; that even if all politicians are corrupt, some will damage your society, government and the environment much more than others - and by voting you can block the most toxic candidates.

You have to look hard to find a more disgusting capitalist than Hillary but America managed to do it. The fact that I hate Trump much more doesn't change the fact that I still would love kick Hillary's cackling teeth in.

Btw, keep up the good work, Burma
