if you were down with the lorax you'd know that it takes an earth life to make any difference.

You mean to say there's no use trying to improve things because people won't ever learn unless they seriously screw up first?

Maybe you're generalizing people a bit too much. And again, this is about the message, not saving the environment by turning lights off for one hour. We all know it doesn't work like that.

edit :

I find it odd that a positive global attempt at getting people to collaborate on something as simple as turning lights off can generate so much cynicism and spite :p

i have no idea where you derived that meaning from what i said, because my message was very simple. in order to "save the planet" and truly make a difference, then you have to spend your entire life, meaining every facet of your day to day, working to improve the environment to make a difference. earth hour is just a means of placating millions of people and convincing them that their miniscule hour-long efforts are noble so they can sleep at night.

Alright, then I misunderstood, sorry for that.

As you know, in the Lorax story, the Once-ler cuts down the entire forest to make "thneed", a garment that he thinks people need. The Lorax living in the forest tells him not to, but the Once-ler doesn't listen. After the forest is cut down, all the creatures that live there go away, the thneed factories shut down and the Once-ler is alone. It's not until that point that he realizes how wrong it was of him to cut down the trees to start with ..

In other words, the Once-ler had to **** up before he could understand what the lorax meant. I thought your message was similar, that people won't get it until they've ****ed up. ;)

Dont you get it... I figure this is the only way to get through to you... Where did you get you earth hour idea?? Ill tell you the mass media, Yes we are all victims but honestly regardless of what you do... "go on a quest to save the world" by turning your f-ing lights out for a whole hour god bless you... Oh and your other idea that we can bring everyone together that's laughable... The very ppl in your post that have said anything against your arrogance have all been made fun of or dismissed. If you ask me that's a poor attempt at bringing everyone together. How about you explain yourself rather than making negitive judgmental comments mr bring us all together.
Notice how your post is full of anger? Are you a war monger?? So how about you do with out it forever...
maybe that would be a little better...

You should have just called this post "Sacrifices that i make because I care about my own agenda and if you dont F-U:wave:"

Get it!!!!!!

Alright, what is it that you want me to explain, Mr. Cornelius?

How the f are you bringing everyone together by turning your lights out for an hour? What is your purpose, is it like lent, only with lights??

It just seems like an excuse to play instruments that were all made by the same thing that powers you light bulb. If you just wanna party with the lights out do me a favor lift the seat, and don't make pointless posts.

What's lent?

Basically, it's an awareness campaign on global warming. It does so by trying to make people shut off their lights for one day, thus showing that it is possible to do a collective effort on a grand scale.

Uhm, no - it's not. Also, I didn't know that my flute and acoustic guitar was powered by electricity. Fascinating!

Uhm, it's not really about partying. Look up or you could also read the first post, the OP, the thread starter.

And you can check out this site : Earth Hour

I know you probably won't because you seem to think that participating in a global event in an attempt to spread a little optmism and "can-do" mentality is horribly arrogant. You're free to feel that way, but if that's how it is, could you do it somewhere else?
