Me and the GF are inviting people over for food and getting drunk and when earth hour starts, we'll turn off the lights, replace the stereo with acoustic guitars, flutes and accordians and light some candles.

And from the top post it looks like your going to have the fidge on which cunsumes a hell of alot more energy than your lights...

How about when i start my earth day i just go to bed rather than having a bunch of drunk ppl pissing in my toilet using gallons of water and opening and closing my refrigerator to only use more energy. Seems like to me that your going to consume more energy than you would if you left the lights on.

On a grander scale if everyone did what you were doing tonight i bet it would consume more energy than their light bulbs... not that hard to figure out.. so basically your attempts to do something positive are taken away by your inability to do it yourself... basically my earth day will be more productive than yours and i dont even have to try?? I make it habit to keep all the lights off in the house until I really need it, like if I'm reading or playing guitar.

I am going to be turning off all the non essential electrical devices for the night and am going out to get a few candles and just have a nice relaxing evening in candlelight and acoustic tunes.
