If so, then this was not a planned rescue like it is being made out to be. I haven't read anything about the specifics to the rescue. I'm leaning towards believing this story is false, though.

Part of that story is true. I was listening to the updates when he first got saved. The captain almost escaped on his own but he wasn't successful, the pirates found out and brought him back to the lifeboat and decided to tie him up better this time. The next day or so is when the SEALS finally came in

Did anyone else see this article on cnn.com? From the article:

Nur issued a warning to the United States.

"The killing of our boys was aggression, and the U.S. will see what they get from their operation," he said.
I have to say it's mildly hilarious to hear the pirates act like they were just minding their own business and were aggressively attacked for no reason.

Yeah three pirates dead, three shots, all head shots from 90 yards in shaky waters. I wouldn't mess around if I were pirates.

America got what it wanted, and it'll leave and the pirates will be back. Somalia has nothing that the rest of the world wants therefor there is nothing to gain from helping them and I hardly see other countries positioning naval bases there out of the "kindness of their hearts". I know it sounds cold, but I mean... the Somalian pirates aren't a new phenomenon, they've been there for quite a while, but all of a sudden Americans care because it was finally one of their own. People are all up in arms now with a blood thirst vengeance but when the body bags start coming back peoples' opinions will change.

I would love to be a sharpshooter! I would enjoy scoping in on a pirate or two.

What boggles my mind is the mere fact that all these ships are being taken hostage by these Somali Pirates and the ships aren't armed? WTF is up with that? Dont Cargo ships have armed staff?

I think the reason they aren't armed is because the various ports they're stopping at don't necessarily want a bunch of foreign sailors with guns cruising into their harbor and may in fact have laws prohibiting such a thing. It's pretty understandable really but it certainly does leave them vulnerable when there are pirates around.
