the booth's close at 10. sunderland is usually the first to announce at about 1/4 to ten but they don't really start announcing results in any significant way till after 1.

I went Lib Dems, Clegg has been quite savvy in the way he's coaxed the generally apathetic 18-23 age group into voting with his plans to abolish tuition fees. That's not why I voted though, I think a Labour-Lib Dem hung parliament is just what this silly country needs at the moment.

Looks like an interesting predictament to be in right now but of course, it was always on the cards. I voted Lib Dem too this time.

So what happens in a hung parliment? I watched Chris Matthews fawn over the British system last night because it was efficent, immediate, and well organized. I'll be writing him a letter.

Meph1986 05-07-2010 09:53 AM

Any plans for a coalition?

Mojo 05-07-2010 10:39 AM

Actually, im not entirely sure about what happens now as there has never been a hung parliament in my lifetime. As seen as one party hasnt taken a clear majority then the party that "wins" the election has the most seats but doesnt necessarily take power.

Wont the conservatives be unable to pass a law without agreement from other parties? Which is unlikely to ever happen.

Isnt it written that in this case, the PM cant be forced out? Doesnt Brown have to resign to lose office?
