In 50 years, children will be incredulous at the thought of discrimination based on sexuality just as we are incredulous at the thought of discrimination based on race

except that there are still plenty of racists out there

yes, but we dont have laws that segregate anymore. i think he means that they'll think its ridiculous that we had laws that kept gays from getting married, just like most of us think its ridiculous that we used to have laws prohibiting blacks from doing things with whites.

I disagree, because as long as (many, but not all) organized religions exist, children will be taught that homosexuality is wrong and/or perverse, to varying degrees. Some will hold strictly to that belief and others will discard it, just as they do now, but I believe it will be an ongoing issue in society.

And in 50 years, there will be plenty of homophobes. But the large majority of people will find absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Are you aware that the Bible sanctions slavery? Though that doesn't directly promote racism, it was certainly a contributing factor.

The Bible also has a lot to say about the inferiority of women. We don't really pay attention to those parts any more, do we?

You're ****ing joking right? We're still reeling from that one, I think and it's been 93593993858935893 years. No matter how forward thinking people are or pretend to be. Women are still treated as inferior and considered to be the "weaker" sex.

Well, there are biological reasons for that. IE, child birth. But I think, for the most part, we've gotten past stoning your daughter to death if she's not a virgin when she gets married.

Still though, women are treated as inferiors in a few large ways, and a number of subtle ways. It's definitely not what it was, but it's far from absolved either.

Point is, it still happens. Just like men think we're gross when we're on the rag. Oh I mean boys, boys think that. Men don't mind all that much

Because women can have children.... they're the weaker sex? No. That's pretty wrong.

Also... just because people don't throw stones at women anymore it doesn't mean people don't practice brutality anymore. Obviously standards have improved since the bible was written but there is still sexism and women are still being abused.
