Well, either we discuss the real world based on facts or we resort to fantasies, in which case there is no basis for discussion at all. I suppose we can leave your vision of how the world should be then.

Freeways aren't built for playing boardgames on. Would you play strip poker in a cold chamber?

I didn't literally mean a nazi, but you still pull out arguments that propose the extermination of certain individuals based on group specific traits. I'm glad to see that you at least don't hate jews and I'm sorry I insinuated that you're a nazi. Would you feel more comfortable if I called you a utilitarian fascist?

No matter how big or how small the change you want to make is, it's all fantasy. No matter how realistic your idea is, it's just a fantasy.

I think we might be able to work something out, if you're cute.

Do fascists want to abolish the government?

Well, a world built around the wish of decreasing the population to 500 million is a fantasy, but the principle of letting people freely produce and trade values with each other is real. That's one thing that eliminates the need of decreasing the population.

I'm up for it if we can settle the case of where to situate the playing. I just don't have that much of a problem with not being able to sit cross-legged on a highway and play checkers.

I admit that I have a hard time coming up with an adequate general term for people who'd like to eliminate certain groups of people. Let's stick with striclty a utilitarian then. That's inhumane enough in my eyes.

It's hard to understand how oppressive the private automobile is unless you can imagine a world without it.

I can imagine a world without it, a world in which we'd have a much harder time to move around. Do you find trains oppressive too? Airplanes? Boats? Bicycles? People walking around? Or is it the concept of roads you find oppressive in that they - by necessity - take up land area?

Cars don't help us get around. They impede us from being able to get around.

How?

I don't plan on adding much to this conversation. I'm not all that interested in the idea of anarchy... but comments like this are just idiotic:

It doesn't allow us to get where we want to be unless we can afford it.

Apart from hitch-hiking, of course it doesn't. What's your problem? If you can't afford food you'll starve, if you can't afford clothing you'll freeze, if you can't afford a computer you can't make strange remarks on forums about cars hindering our abilities to travel.
