I'm sure that when the body was taken into custody and brought, I assume, aboard an aircraft carrier, that an examination was done (along with obtaining the DNA) and photographs were taken.

As far as that photo, this blog claims that, "The real photos have not yet been released. These [the photo all over Google Images] photos are circulating now, but Defense Dept. says they are old edited photos that have been around for a while."
I haven't checked the DoD site or any other official site to verify that statement (assuming there is one), but it wouldn't be surprising if it were true, and that photo is fake.

Yeah, you never know. But with tech today, you can get anything out there once its out there.

Abu Gharib probably wasn't authorized either. But don't take that as a defensive of the photos. I'm just saying they can slip past Management these days.

True that. That whole wikileaks thing where they blamed an Army private, then everyone started saying "impossible, an Army private wouldn't have access to that stuff"... I laughed. I had access to all sorts of shit in the Army, and I only had a secret security clearance... M.I. has top secret by default, and they start out as privates in many cases.
And what's more, there were hundreds of all sorts of "classified" videos and documents that made their way to servers on unsecured networks simply due to bad management of information storage.

This is the latest I've read from politico.com: An arm of a Pakistani Taliban group led the charge Monday, according to Pakistan’s GEO TV, insisting that Bin Laden is still alive. Supporters rallied around a new Facebook group called, “Osama bin Laden NOT DEAD.” Meanwhile, the Pakistani and British media Monday fell prey to a recycled and faked photograph of a dead Bin Laden.

The bold part goes with that vid I posted a couple posts back.
Although, I'm not making the conclusion that OBL isn't dead because of the existence of a fake picture. I'm content to wait for irrefutable proof of any sort, although it will be interesting to see what comes out of Paki Talis' corner.
The whole thing will be interesting to see unfold, whichever way it happens to turn out. As for now, I'll just default to "OBL got ganked."

I realise that.
I have no doubts he is dead, just to when and how.

@Brennan. The British media reported the photo as purporting to be the body of Bin Laden. There's a world of difference.
