prison works best when it functions as a punishment rather than rehabilitation.
you can't expect a racehorse to run without whipping its butt first.

Actually race horses run the entire race and only get their ass whipped at the end of the race to produce some kick to the finish line.

This guys methods are pretty awesome.

Haven't you ever heard the old adage, "You get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar"?

I think the problems with the prison systems are mostly pure laziness and ignorance. For the most part, I think the majority of cops become such because of their desperate need for power and skewed version of "justice". Not to say that's all of them, because I have in a slightly personal way known a few cops that were really great people, and really great cops.

But people should not be treated as like ****, even if they've done heinous crimes. They're pitiful, miserable creatures and they should be pitied. Rehabilitation should work on resolving the issues that cause them to be such troubled people, and our society should do more to prevent the things that causes people to grow into such criminals (broken families, terrible education, etc etc) but of course, that'd be too much work for those in power, amirite.

Yeah its hard to run a legit correctional facility thats main focus is on rehabilitating inmates. When the facility's themselves are just as corrupt, only they are in power and not held to the same accountability as the ones who's permenant place of residence is in the confines of the prison. Its structure is more along the lines of do what I say and not do as I do.
Much like Christianity

Define "works best". If you just mean that it satisfies you to know that criminals are "getting what's coming to them", then you're an idiot.

i get what you mean but personally, i always side on the victim, always, rather than the criminal. that's the reason why as much as i want to feel pity for these prisoners, i can't. i consider them as trashes of our community. sure, some thrash can be recycled thru some process, but i don't want them to mess with the good ones. it will always stink no matter how you try to polish it to blend with others.

the same way with criminals. no matter what kind of rehabilitation, proper conduct, etc. etc., you want them to have in prison, i can't imagine myself trusting a murderer to stay close to my loved ones. once a killer, always a killer. same goes with rapists, drug addicts, offenders, terrorists, etc.

also, i don't think it's cops responsibilities to ensure these inmates learn there lessons thru a peaceful manner. learn their lessons, yes. thru peaceful manner, no. i say beat them up, do what's the usual sick things done in prison, and then, they will learn. it's not always for the purpose of learning so they can go out prison with a good, loving nature, no. learn here means if you have the urge to be a rapist/murderer/durg addict again, you betta remember what they did to u in prison. bam!

Dude you are hopeless and extremely closed minded to think that way. Not only are you writing off humans as being disposable and useless and giving your consent to being abused beaten and tortured. You also think that whipping animals is the proper course of action to take to get them to do what you want? Personaly I wouldnt want someone like YOU to be around my loved ones.

Lol really? I didn't know it was your place to make judgments on that sort of thing, especially when you have no experience in such matters and apparently no sort of empathy. Do you know they jail homosexuals in some parts of the world? What about them?

1, drug addiction is an illness. 2, advocating harm to these people makes you as bad as they are

Yes, it is.

Here's a tip, cruel and unusual punishment is illegal. Which means, they break a law, and that means they make themselves into criminals as well. Comprende?

Yeah that works, not.
