I get news mainly from the BBC online and the Independent and Guardian newspaper sites. Sometimes I watch Russia Today and Al Jazeera to compare different angles. I occasionally read some of the trashy tabloid newspaper sites just to see how biased and simplistic they are about important issues like the war in Afghanistan, the economy, youth unemployment etc.

I think it's important that people get their news from a variety of sources. I listen to the radio, view the Internet, watch the television and read hard copy newspapers as well. All of the sources I get my news from are from different strains of media ownership. It's important to expose yourself to different viewpoints... which can be increasingly difficult as more media conglomerates are starting to own everything, but can also be increasingly easy with the prevalence of the Internet these days.

Regularly (at least one of these every day): Vancouver Sun, The National Post, BBC, Al Jazeera, Haaretz (Israeli), and Hurriyet (Turkish)
Occasionally (once a week or so): New York Times, The Economist

Mainly some blogs, a select few twitter accounts and emails I receive. I get the kindle version of the New York Times on my phone everyday and read it all the time, mostly to know what others are thinking over a subject I've already made my mind up on.

I also receive the digital version of the New Yorker magazine but it's not necessarily a news source is it? although I love it dearly.

BBC is usually the generic site of choice, but it gets a bit boring at times.

i get mine from the blind shoe shine man on the corner of 156th and bulls*it ave. he sees right through the newspaper, and tells me that good news is taking a while for him to figure out. he smells a rat he thinks.

here's some news of the world. i'll be sleepin' on the sidewalk

One, two, three
I was nothin' but a city boy
My trumpet was my only toy
I've been blowin' my horn
Since I knew I was born
But there ain't no nobody wants to know

I've been sleepin' on the sidewalk
Rollin' down the road
I may get hungry
But I sure don't want to go home

So round the corner comes a limousine
And the biggest grin I ever seen
Hey, sonny won't you sign
Right along the dotted line
What you sayin' are you playin'
Sure you don't mean me ?

I've been sleepin' on the sidewalk
Rollin' down the road
I may get hungry
But I sure don't wanna go home

Now I'll tell you what happened...

They took me to a room without a table
They said "Blow your trumpet into here"
I played around as well as I was able
And soon we had the record of the year

I was a legend all through the land
I was blowin' to a million fans
Nothin' was a-missin'
All the people want to listen
You'd have thought I was a happy man

And I was sleepin' like a princess
Never touch the road
I don't get hungry
And I sure don't want to go home

Have to have some fun...

And now they tell me that I ain't so fashionable
And that I owe the man a million bucks a year
So I told 'em where to stick the fancy label
It's just me and the road from here
Yeah, yeah

I'm back to playin' and layin'
I'm back on the game

And I'm sleepin' on the sidewalk
Rollin' down the road
I sure get hungry and I sure do wanna go home
Yeah

ah heck with it. it's a two-fer. gotta like some news of the world.

Gotta go with CNN.com. User friendly, and gives you freedom of choice in terms of what you want to read about.
